THE PRICE IS CHRIST
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 – “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price…”
There is a story of an elderly person who was recognized for his righteous lifestyle. One day someone questioned him, “What do you do when you get tempted?” He replied, “Well, I simply look to Jesus and say, “Lord, your home is in danger.”
Our theme verse declares, “You are not your own.” It can also be interpreted as, “You are not your own home now. You were bought with a price.” This price that the Father paid was the sacrifice of His own Son. The price was Jesus Christ Himself. The Lord encourages us by placing His seal on us as a ruler seals his property. We belong to Him.
2 Corinthians 1:21-22 – “Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.”
WE ARE HIS
As believers in Christ, we are God’s people. We are His sheep and He alone is our Shepherd. We are His home and He dwells in us. We are His children and He alone is our Father. We are His, Period.
Romans 8:15 – “For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father’.”
“Abba” is a loving call of a Jewish child in Israel. If you visit Israel today, you will hear children calling out to their fathers as “Abba”. This is the same relationship we have with our Father and have complete access to Him always through Christ.
We must never forget that our Father – our “Abba” loves us through His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ who bought us by paying the price with His own blood.
