1 Corinthians 2:2
For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
Religion desires to elevate man through his works and deeds. It desires to reform a man; however, the Cross seeks to crucify him. Religion always falls short to achieve the desired result, but the Cross never ever fails to accomplish it.
Man keeps pursuing ethics, morality, virtue, spirituality, mysticism, and religion; even perform religious works and good deeds in order to avoid pain and guilt; and to fill the vacuum inside his soul. He does so to avoid death on a Cross. Thus, we observe no marks or wounds or scars, and absolutely no evidence at all of having ever died and been made alive unto God.
There are two things evident: either a man has never died, or he has died and been raised again. You can fake a reformation, but you cannot fake a resurrection.
