*Reading Time: 3 minutes*

Proverbs 4:7 – Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.

WISDOM IN THE OLD

Under the Old Covenant, a wise person was the one with the ability to conform to the wisdom of God, by discerning God’s works and applying them to the seen creation. He was identified by his attitude of heart, or his response, when and where God touches him personally. Wisdom was referred to in the feminine, relating to creation, glory, exaltation, promotion, etc.

WISDOM IN THE NEW

In the New Covenant, wisdom is not just a theory or a concept but a person. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is the wisdom of God.

1 Corinthians 1:30 – And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption.

The manifold, eternal wisdom of God is revealed in Christ. The treasures of wisdom and understanding are hidden in Christ.

Colossians 2:3 – in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Christ is not only the wisdom of God, but he has now become our wisdom.

1 Corinthians 1:30 – And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption.

To believe in Him and submit to His Lordship is the demonstration of the highest wisdom.

THE POWER OF GOD

1 Corinthians 1:24-26 – But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God

Christ is the power and the wisdom of God to all those who have been called by the Father. The power of God relates to the death and resurrection of Christ. It is by that power Christ was raised from the dead. The word, “power” is the Greek, “dü’-nä-mēs” which means, “strength power, ability.”

Ephesians 1:20 – This power he exercised in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms.

The moment we hear Christ preached and we believe the Gospel, it becomes the power of God which brings us salvation and deliverance.

Romans 1:16 – For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is God’s power for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

CHRIST CRUCIFIED

1 Corinthians 1:23-24 – But we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block, and to Gentiles foolishness, But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

When Christ was crucified, He ceased the power of the first Adam and his fallen nature by His death on the Cross. Because of this, the adversary has no ground to accuse us today. We can come boldly before the throne of grace in times of our deepest needs by the blood of the Lamb of God.

Christ and Him crucified, is the power of God to bring salvation, deliverance from sin, from the flesh, from the law and the world. We are crucified to the world and its lusts through the Cross of Jesus Christ.

Galatians 6:14 – God forbid that I should glory save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me and I to the world.

Christ gave Himself to God through the eternal Spirit and in His resurrection this crucified Christ has become a life-giving Spirit for us to receive.

1 Corinthians 15:45 – The last Adam became a life-giving Spirit.

May the resurrected Christ be your WISDOM and POWER today.
